School board
member appointed
Donna Drury, school board member, was recently appointed to a one-year term on the Kentucky Education Commissioner’s Local School Board Members Advisory Council, according to a news release from Superintendent Sheila Mitchell.
“The purpose of the council is to represent all districts (one member from seven state board judicial districts were selected for appointment) to discuss how Kentucky Department of Education initiatives and decisions made at the state level are affecting school boards and districts throughout Kentucky,” Mitchell said in an e-mail.
The council is scheduled to meet four times per year with the first meeting being on Jan. 29, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the State Board Room of the Capital Plaza Tower in Frankfort.
“We are excited to have Mrs. Drury representing not only Anderson County on this very important council but she will be representing school districts across Kentucky on the impact of KDE decisions on local school districts and boards of education,” Mitchell wrote.
