The Women’s Farm Bureau Federation Committee hosted its annual Outstanding Farm Bureau Youth and Variety Contest on Sept. 8 at the Anderson County High School Auditorium.
The agriculture teachers, Drew Robinson and Brandon Fawbush, worked with their FFA students and had four girls and one boy to try out for the Outstanding Youth.
To become and Outstanding Youth they each had to give a five minute interview before three judges and then present a two minute speech on Farm Bureau or agriculture.
Logan Stevens and Emily Drury were chosen and will represent Anderson County at the district contest Oct. 15 in Spencer County.
Seven acts tried out for the variety show. Winners were Erin Padin, who sang “Think of Me,” from Phantom of the Opera. Second place went to Devan Pruitt, who sang “Ladies Choice,” and third to Quetzal and Rio Velasco doing a modern dance to the Broadway musical song from Wicked, “What is this Feeling?”
First-place winner Paden will compete in the district contest, and all three winners will perform at the Burgoo Festival on Friday night at 6 p.m. on the court house stage, and at the annual Farm Bureau Meeting, Oct. 10 at Eagle Lake.
