Nine Anderson County football players were named first team All-District by the coaches of Class 5A, District 4 last week.
Bearcat coach Mark Peach was also named the district's Coach of the Year after leading the Bearcats, picked third in pre-season by most polls, to the district championship. It was only the third district title in school history but second in the last four years.
Anderson players named to the first team offense were Seth Carmichael, Ethan Kelly, Todd DeWoody and Neal Wells. Named to the first team defense were Steve Sims, Jake Gribbins, Travis Phillips and Spencer Ruggles. In addition, Bill Rose was named first team kicker.
Anderson players on the second team were Scotty Watts, Chris Fitzpatrick and Blake Curtsinger on offense and Logan Woodside on defense.
Honorable mention all-district selections were Matt Sprague on offense and Zack Cotton on defense.
The district's Player of the Year was DeMichael Jackson of Jeffersontown.
Carmichael breaks yardage record
Anderson quarterback Seth Carmichael broke the single season record for passing yards at Anderson when he threw for 2.621 yards this year breaking the mark set by Jacob Russell a year earlier. Russell threw for 2,240 yards. Both have thrown 29 touchdown passes in a season.
