Anderson County wide receiver Ross Cox was named first team all-state by the Associated Press recently.

It was incorrectly reported in the Jan. 8 edition of The Anderson News that he was named second team in the statewide media vote.

Cox was named first team all-state by the AP and was also a member of The Class of the Commonwealth, a team of the 22 best Kentucky seniors selected by The Lexington Herald-Leader.
Cox was a third team selection on The Courier-Journal all-state team.

Saturday, Cox participated with the Kentucky All-Stars in the Border Bowl football game at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg.

Individual statistics were not available at press time, but Cox and his teammates were victorious as Kentucky defeated Tennessee for the second straight year, 37-13.

“Ross played well, he caught a couple of passes and had some really nice downfield blocks,” Anderson coach Mark Peach said. “Ross said at the banquet they had a member from seal team 6 speak to both teams, he said it was a great experience.”
