Free "whooping cough" vaccinations will be provided by the Anderson County Health Department on Friday, Nov. 16 from 4-5:30 p.m. for Emma B. Ward Elementary students and staff who may have been in contact with students positively diagnosed with pertussis, commonly known as "whooping cough."
Superintendent Sheila Mitchell confirmed the whooping cough outbreak in a press release Thursday morning, stating that the state epidemiology department recommended all fifth grade students at Ward be immunized for whooping cough.
