Anderson County notched a second impressive win in the early season when the Lady Bearcats routed Lexington Catholic 59-36 Friday night in Lexington.

Makenzie Cann sank 5-of-10 three-point shots and scored 22 points to lead the Lady Bearcats. Eriel McKee added 10 points, four assists and three steals while Kali Whiteside pulled down 11 rebounds and blocked three shots.

Anderson owned a 38-27 rebounding advantage and only committed six turnovers.

Anderson jumped to an 18-6 first quarter lead and was never threatened. The Lady Bearcats, now 2-0, had romped past 12th Region power Casey County in the opener.

“We had great energy to start,” Anderson coach Tony Kays said. “We played very good defense. We had good ball movement and shot well versus their zone. It was a good overall team effort.”

Anderson will travel to 12th Region favorite Lincoln County on Thursday night and will host 11th Region pick Paul L. Dunbar in a game that will tip off at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Lincoln advanced to the state semi-finals last March.

“We expect tough games from two quality teams,” Kays said.
