Tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster, Rupp box office

Anderson County High School sold out of its allotment of Sweet 16 tickets Monday morning.

The school received approximately 800 pep section tickets from the Kentucky High School Athletic Association that were gone within 15 minutes of being put on sale. The school is unsure if it will be able to get more tickets from the KHSAA.

Anderson will play Elliott County on Thursday, March 19 at 8 p.m. It will be the final first round game and will follow the Mason County-Shelby Valley game at 6:30.

School athletic director Rick Sallee said last week that fans can purchase tickets from the Rupp Arena box office, from Ticketmaster outlets or from Ticketmaster.com and designate which game and the team. Anderson will be playing in session 4, game 2 and will be the home team against Elliott. Most available tickets will be in the upper arena at Rupp.

Elliott County is a very popular team and expected to have huge fan support. Shelby Valley, the only Kentucky team to beat Elliott this year is expected to have a big following and Mason County, the defending state champion, has legendary fan support. With Anderson joining those three teams on Thursday night, tickets might become a hot commodity by game time.

Tickets are $11 from the Rupp Arena box office, but Sallee said that might be the safest way to ensure seeing the Bearcats make their first Sweet 16 appearance in 12 years. Ticketmaster also charges a convenience fee.

“I would advise people that if they want a seat, to get their tickets at Rupp Arena or Ticketmaster,” Sallee said. “This is a huge accomplishment and the biggest state tournament in the nation.”
