SPRINGFIELD – Anderson County golfer Tyler Harrod won a one-hole playoff Wednesday to earn a berth in the boys' state high school golf tournament.

Harrod, a junior, shaved five strokes off his final five holes to finish with a 4-over 76 in the regional golf tournament held at Lincoln Homestead Golf Course. Harrod forced a tie, then on the extra hole, placed his third shot about 18 inches from the pin. Harrod then tapped the ball in for par to win the playoff.

He is the first Anderson boy to qualify for the state since 2008 and will be playing at the Bowling Green Country Club next Thursday through Saturday.

As a team, the Bearcats fell just short, turning in a 321 to finish in a tie for fourth out of 19 schools posting team scores. West Jessamine won the team title with a 295, followed by Adair County's 305.
