Anderson County was supposed to make it to the Sweet 16 in 1975.
At least that was the prevailing mood locally and across the state. The Bearcats were a solid pick to repeat as regional champion.
That was Bearcats. Not Lady Cats.
Common reactions to the term Lady Bearcats were derision and novelty in that inaugural season of girls' high school basketball in Kentucky. When March rolled around though, it was the Lady Bearcats heading to the big show, where they played in the opening game of the revived girls' state tournament.
