The Anderson County health department will be offering a free, drive-thru flu shot clinic Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. to noon at the health department, located at 1180 Glensboro Road in Lawrenceburg.
Health department staff will have 300 free flu shots available, first come first served, for uninsured adults who reside in Anderson County.
If families wish to have their children vaccinated, they will need to bring children into the clinic during the department’s regular business hours, Health Department Director Tim Wright said.
Business hours for the clinic are Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
Wright said the health department uses the drive-thru clinic not only to provide a service to residents, but also as staff preparedness training in the event that numerous vaccinations would be need to be given.
“We see how many shot we can give in an hour, and if we ever have an event where we’d have to vaccinate the entire county, we can do the math,” he said.
