Emma B. Ward Elementary will be hosting the fifth annual Empty Bowls fundraiser and Holiday Station Express on Dec. 13 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
The Empty Bowls fundraiser, held in the Ward gym, provides soup, bread and handmade ceramic bowls to benefit hunger charities such as Backpack Buddies, Open Hands food pantry and Heifer International.
Students from Ward, Anderson County Middle School and Robert B. Turner Elementary created the ceramic bowls, which will be available for sale at the dinner.
Dinner and a handmade bowl costs $10. Those attending the fundraiser who want to use a disposable bowl pay $3 each.
According to art teacher Stachia Serafini, this year’s Empty Bowls fundraiser will feature more than 20 different types of soup to choose from including homemade local restaurant soups.
All proceeds from the dinner will be donated to Backpack Buddies, Open Hands and Heifer International.
Ward is also hosting the Holiday Station Express, where students and their families can create items to take to elderly residents at Heritage Hall.
They will also be making decorations for the Open Hands Christmas dinner. Holiday Station Express will include other activities such as singing Christmas carols and visiting with Santa.
