High school also fielded first girls’ lacrosse team

-A A +A

I would like to add one more to your list of achievements for Anderson County High School girls’ sports teams.

This spring, we fielded our first girls’ lacrosse team.

In their inaugural season, they went 5-6, with many of their games, and some of their wins, against schools with established lacrosse programs.

Anderson County Coach Chris Harrod and his staff recruited freshmen to seniors and put together a group that I was proud for my daughter to be a part of.

For all of their hard work and good results, their performance on the field was eclipsed by their character.

Not all of their opponents shared their sense of sportsmanship but our girls were gracious in winning and losing and, with their coaches, are to be commended.

ACHS now fields two good lacrosse teams. The guys have been at it for 2 or 3 years now.

At the banquet for both teams at the close of the season, you couldn’t help but feel that you were around a good bunch of kids.

The sport is catching on all around central Kentucky. Our girls and boys are showing how to do it right.
