Lecturer Maryjean Wall will discuss how the Bluegrass region of Kentucky has evolved into the horse capital of the world Thursday, Nov. 11 with a presentation titled Changing Perceptions: Turning Kentucky Into Horse Country.
Wall will explain how violence and lawlessness plagued Kentucky after the Civil War, dissuading wealthy capitalists of the Northeast from bringing their race horse-breeding operations to Kentucky, according to a news release.
