Five dogs were euthanized Monday morning and more are facing the same fate due to overcrowding at the Anderson Humane Society's shelter on Versailles Road.
Society officials are calling the situation "desperate."
"We're always desperate," said Director Donna Callahan. Especially if it turns cold again, because some of the dogs are having to be kept outside at animal control.
"We're just having to put them in places we wouldn't normally have to put them."
