Lawrenceburg resident Tim Hurt (left) is sworn in as a police officer recently by Simpsonville Mayor Steve Eden. Hurt, 47, teaches martial arts. He spent 10 years with vehicle enforcement, where he worked in training and with the special ops unit, before becoming in 1999 an instructor at the Kentucky Law Enforcement Academy at Eastern Kentucky University. He retired there in 2008 and joined the Shelbyville Police Department as a patrol officer. He is a retired after 24 years in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves and has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s in public administration.
