Kindergarten enrollment has declined by roughly a third heading into the new school year, forcing the school district to cut three teaching positions and leaving it in a potential financial lurch.
Derek Shouse, the district’s director of student services, confirmed last Friday that nearly 100 less kindergarten students are enrolled this year compared to last, and he isn’t exactly sure what has caused such a significant decline.
“For whatever reason, they have not shown up,” said Shouse.
