To the editor:
If you’re voting, please educate yourself. Know the facts … remember, don’t believe everything you hear on TV.
Over the past few months I have had the opportunity to get to know a man who my parents, my grandparents, and most likely you, would consider to be a true gentleman, deserving of your support and trust. That man is my friend, Ben Chandler. Being raised on a farm, and being taught the importance of hard work, honesty, and integrity, Ben and I immediately shared many similarities in our own lives.
Ben Chandler leads his life and his vocation by means of this ideology. He realizes the importance of honesty and integrity, which is why he has always fought to protect and respect the promises made to our seniors and veterans.
One can simply look at his record to see that he has always put Kentucky first. When the Veteran’s hospital in Lexington was going to be shutdown, it was Ben Chandler who stepped in and made sure the doors stayed open and our Veterans could continue getting the services they deserve. Now he’s standing up to the Obama administration to make sure that promised state-of-the-art facilities are built in Lexington. That is why the Lexington Herald-Leader recently endorsed Chandler, praising him for his moderate approach. According to the editorial board, “In a government that’s been poisoned by partisanship, Chandler defends the shrinking middle ground.”
Regardless of who you vote for next Tuesday, I believe everyone should make an educated vote based on facts, instead of the untruths that are being blasted on TV. So I have gathered factual information based on what Chandler has done while in office.
Fact 1: Ben Chandler works across party lines.
He has not been afraid to take a stand against his party when he thinks it’s the right decision for Kentucky, as he did on Obama Care.
Fact 2: Ben Chandler supports a balanced budget amendment.
Chandler didn’t just vote for a balanced budget amendment. He co-sponsored one so that our government would have the funds it needs to meet its Medicare and Social Security obligations.
Fact 3: Ben Chandler has a history of standing up for individual freedoms. Chandler was recently endorsed by the National Rifle Association, who gave him an “A” for his record of defending Second Amendment rights in
Washington.
So, after you look past the appalling radio and TV propaganda it is clear to see that my friend Ben is the best bet for you, Kentucky, and The United States of America.
