SHELBYVILLE-- Simon Kenton's Jessica Farris came up with a steal and converted a three-point play with 1:08 to play, putting Simon Kenton ahead to stay in the girls' Eighth Region championship game played at Shelby County High School Monday night.

Simon Kenton connected on 4 of 6 free throws in the final 32.6 seconds to take a 48-44 victory for the school's first Sweet 16 trip.

Down 3 going into the fourth quarter, Anderson fought back, taking the lead on a Lindsay Fultz steal and layup that made it 38-37 with 4:37 to play. Anderson opened a 4-point lead when Fultz put back a rebound at the 3:12 mark but Simon Kenton showed why it has been ranked the top team in the region for most of the season. The Pioneers made the plays down the stretch to seal the victory.

Junior guard Chelsea Tolliver led all scorers with 24 points, while Courtney Milam led Anderson with 14 points. Fultz scored 13 for the Lady Bearcats, who finished their season at 24-9 and made the program's best post-season showing in 30 years.

Simon Kenton, now 26-8, advances to play Franklin-Simpson in the Girls' Sweet 16.
