The top seed in the girls' 30th District basketball tournament belongs to Anderson County this year. The Lady Bearcats clinched the top spot with a 62-53 win over visiting Shelby County Friday night.
Anderson built a lead that grew to as many as 17 points early in the third quarter, then held off a furious Shelby rally to improve to 12-3 on the year. Shelby fell to 8-12.
Tiffany Davenport led Anderson with 17 points, while Lindsay Fultz scored 16. Seventh-grader Eriel McKee came off the bench for 13 big points.
