Tony Kays' speech was short and to the point.
His Anderson County girls' basketball team saw a 13-point lead sliced to just one as his team gathered after the third quarter of its 53-38 first-round victory in the Eighth Region tournament.
"I told them it was a one-quarter season now and I didn't think they were ready for the season to end just yet," he said.
The Lady Bearcats responded by scoring the first 11 points of the fourth quarter, turning a precarious lead into an insurmountable 45-33 cushion with less than 3 minutes to play.
