FRANKFORT – Anderson County raced to a 23-0 lead, then cruised to a 68-51 win over host Western Hills in girls' basketball action on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Bearcats were already in front 16-0 and Western Hills had burned two timeouts barely two minutes into the contest. Anderson was in front 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.
“I thought the girls came out really focused and put the loss last night (to Christian Academy of Louisville) behind them,” Anderson coach Tony Kays said.
All five Anderson starters scored in double figures, led by Sydney Brown and Eriel McKee, who scored 15 points each. The Lady Cats improved to 12-5.
Western Hills, now 6-9, was led by Kendyl Vandergriff's 13 points.
Anderson returns to action on Friday, Jan. 29, when the Lady Bearcats host pre-season regional favorite South Oldham.
