Anderson County High School golfers Marcus Lake and Jacob Flora have decided to take their talents to Georgetown College. The pair signed with the Tigers in late February.

Flora and Lake have both done extremely well in the summer tours and helped the Bearcats to one of the program’s best finishes ever last fall.

“Georgetown is a great academic school and they are giving me the best chance to succeed in the classroom and on the golf course,” said Lake, who never seriously considered another school.

Flora also considered Georgetown’s academics and added, “It is also home to one of my favorite golf courses, Cherry Blossom. I can’t wait to practice there.”

Flora said he also considered Transylvania before picking Georgetown, where he plans on having a double major in pre-medicine and pre-ministry.

“I will continue into the medical field and be a part-time student pastor.”

Lake plans to study athletic training at the school but is unsure of his future plans.

“I am so very proud of Jacob and Marcus,” Anderson coach T.J. Spivey said.

“They have worked very hard to get where they are today and they deserve it. Not only will Georgetown be a good fit for them for golf, but academically they will receive a challenging education with prestigious instruction. With the work ethic both of these two young men have, they will have no trouble succeeding in any career field they may so choose.”
