The city of Lawrenceburg’s holiday season will officially kick off 6 p.m. Friday at Lawrenceburg Green with a remembrance ceremony, the lighting of a Christmas tree, and caroling led by Sand Spring Baptist Church music director Ellery Milburn.

Refreshments will be provided by the Lawrenceburg Burgoo Festival Committee.

The annual Christmas parade is scheduled for noon Saturday with John Allen Perry serving as grand marshal.

“Staging starts at 9 a.m. at [the] county park,” said Robbie Hume, Lawrenceburg city clerk. “The parade will start at noon, travel south on Saffell Street, east on Broadway, north on Main Street and will return to the park.”

Hume said that as many as five unique celebrity guests will also participate in this year’s parade.

Several TNA wrestlers scheduled to perform Saturday night at Eagle Lake will be in the parade, Hume said. “Abyss [former NWA heavyweight champion] and Taylor Wilde [current TNA Knockout champion] have committed to be in the parade and there could also be a few others.”

“Sounds like Christmas” is this year’s theme, and floats or other parade entries are encouraged to be based on favorite Christmas carols.

There is no charge to participate in the parade.
