Library board trustees approved a $1.357 million budget for the upcoming fiscal year after heated debate over giving a 2 percent raise for applicable library staff.
Board members voted 4-0, with library board president Bryan Proctor abstaining from the final vote.
Library Director Pam Mullins advocated for a 2 percent salary raise for her staff — those who have completed a full year of service — by July 1, an increase she said would amount to less than 50 cents per hour per employee.
