Fiscal court magistrates voted to send roughly $1.3 million in federal stimulus funding back to the state during their meeting last Wednesday morning.
Magistrates seemed largely unaware that the funding had been awarded to Anderson County, or what it could be used for.
County Attorney Bobbi Jo Lewis said she became aware of the funding when she received a call from someone with GE Capital, asking if the county had plans for the funding.
