A Lawrenceburg man is dead this afternoon after apparently setting his home and shed on fire on Enterprise Road, getting into his vehicle and shooting himself.
His name is not being released.
All five Anderson County fire stations responded to the call around 1 p.m. after neighbors reported seeing a large plume of smoke and a series of small explosions at the residence, which sits about a half mile off Enterprise Road.
When first responders arrived, they said the man’s home and shed were fully involved.
“They were about burned to the ground when we got here,” said Anderson County Fire Chief Pat Krogman.
First responders then saw the man slumped over in the seat of his truck. Krogman said it appears the man died from a single self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Kentucky State Police Arson and Crime Scene Investigation teams were called to investigate. Anderson County Sheriff Joe Milam and several of his deputies were also at the scene, and the Anderson County Coroner’s Office had been called.
Also responding was Anderson County EMS.
