Martha Belle Drury Phillips, 93, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home.
She is the wife of the late Lister Carl Phillips and daughter of the late Wesley and Anna Skelton Drury.
Phillips was born Jan. 20, 1919, in Woodford County, Ky., and was a 1939 graduate of Kavanaugh High School. She worked for 21 years as a clerk with the Economic Security Department of Kentucky State Government and is a member of the Sand Spring Baptist Church and the Dorcas/Homemakers Sunday School Class.
Phillips is survived by a son, Ken C. Phillips and his wife Rita of Lawrenceburg and two grandsons, Jason Phillips of Lawrenceburg and Ben Phillips of Lexington, a brother-in-law, Ernest Pete Cox and several nieces and nephews.
Including her husband and parents she is preceded in death by four sisters, Loretta McCoun, Evelyn Conner, Dorothy Thompson, and Elizabeth Cox, and a brother, Johnny Drury.
Funeral services were held Nov. 26 at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Messer and Dr. Mike Hamrick officiating. Burial followed in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jason and Ben Phillips, Brian Dyer, Phil and Garrett Franklin, and Don McCoun.
Honorary bearers were Garvice Stratton, David Smith, William Earl Cox, Allen Montgomery, Johnny Lee Drury and Scott McCoun.
Memorials suggested to Alzheimer’s Association, Hospice of the Bluegrass, or Sand Spring Baptist Church.
