The Christmas Outreach Ministry is in its eighth year and has served 466 meals throughout the community on Christmas Day, the group announced.
This ministry is to reach people who are alone or simply in need of a meal. The group likes for people to come in and joins it to help celebrate Jesus’ birthday and to the fellowship of other people, organizers said.
The group also delivers meals to the people who cannot get out and provides transportation to those who don’t have a way.
Members want to let them know that they care, that God loves them and give them a meal at the same time, according to a news release.
It takes several people to make this ministry happen. First of all the group said it would like to thank Jesus Christ for allowing this ministry. It would like to thank Family Worship for allowing it to use the church’s facility for the last two years.
Others the groups thanked are New Life Christian Fellowship, Tyrone Baptist, Anderson Christian, David Montgomery, Save-a-Lot, Wal-mart and Kroger, and anyone who donated food to Outreach Ministry Team for all the time they put into this ministry.
For 2011 if all goes as planned, the group said it will start hosting this Christmas meal at Open Hands Pantry every year to establish a centralized location.
