These local women participated in a Derby fundraiser for Mom’s Closet Resource Center Inc. during Derby week festivities. Founded by Sheila Day, wife of famous jockey and spokesperson, Pat Day, Mom’s Closet (MCRC) is a liaison between single moms and the resources and services. The center partners with other resources, businesses and agencies in the community. It is not welfare or charity, but rather a hand up and a tool to assist moms seeking an education. Associated with the Northeast Christian Church, the goal is to uplift the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of single moms, while working to secure funding for educational purposes. MCRC is dedicated to helping single mothers and their children in the state of Kentucky.
