Anderson opened the scoring on Austin Cummins' jumper and was never as much as tied. The Mustang pressure forced numerous turnovers leading to easy baskets. Cummins led all scorers with 18 points.

“Our man defense set the tone for the entire game,” said Anderson coach Ken Fenwick. “We scored off our defense early and then everything else fell into place.”

Anderson raced to a 10-0 lead but was having trouble in its offensive sets early. “I felt we came out a little tight on the offensive end in the first quarter,” Fenwick said, “but we had trouble converting.”

Anderson rolled through the tournament practically unchallenged.

“I'm really proud of this group,” Fenwick said. “They take a lot of pride in their defense and the effort is always there. All season, we have talked about a team defense that is powered by good fundamentals to go along with heart and guts.

“They set a goal early in the season to hold opponents below 30 points. For every game this was accomplished, I was to buy a pizza after practice the next day. I have bought a lot of pizza this year.”
