Horseman receives
Impact Award
Barbara Horseman of Lawrenceburg was honored March 20 by the Bluegrass Alliance for Women for her efforts to improve the economic status of women and girls in Anderson County, according to a news release.
Impact Awards were presented at BAW’s annual award luncheon to 11 women representing counties in the Bluegrass Area Development District.
Horseman was recognized for her work in “guiding the Girl Scout troops in financial literacy education through the Girl Scout cookie sale.”
BAW started presenting Impact Awards in 2007 to recognize women whose professional and/or community activities are furthering the mission of the Bluegrass Alliance for Women, which is to improve the lives of women and girls.
Horseman is a loan officer at Farmers Bank in Lawrenceburg and has been active in Girl Scouts for the past 14 years.
Currently, she is an assistant leader in a multi-level age troop, the public relations chair and the Girl Scout cookie pantry manager for Anderson, Boyle, Mercer and Woodford counties.
“Barbara Horseman is one of the best volunteers that the Council has,” said Susan Miller and Samantha Walker, who nominated her.
Another project Horseman has been involved in is helping Girl Scouts in Anderson County organize a special Back Pack Service Project at the start of each school year.
Last year 800 backpacks were donated and filled with school supplies.
