Sign-up Saturday for Girl Scouts
Girl Scout Troop 733 will hold sign-ups Saturday, Sept. 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the American Legion Park, the group announced.
The event will include fun, songs and games, organizers said.
Food pantry, health department
offer free flu shots
A local collaboration between Anderson County Health Department and Open Hands Community Food Pantry is allowing the community to get a free flu shot and stock the shelves at the local food pantry, according to a news release from the Anderson County Department of Health.
A free drive-thru flu shot clinic will be held on Thursday, Sept. 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. Drivers and passengers will be able to get a free flu shot in exchange for a donation of three nonperishable food items per person.
The clinic will take place at Anderson County Health Department, located at 1180 Glensboro Road.
Brandon Hurley, public health director for the Anderson County Health Department said “this collaboration is an excellent way to promote vaccination while also supporting the important work done by the local food pantry.”
Truck, tractor pull in Mackville
A truck and tractor pull is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Mackville Community Center in Washington County, organizers announced.
Admission is $5, and children 10 and under will be admitted free.
Competitors must weigh in by 4 p.m., and cost is $15 per hookup.
Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third places.
Concessions will be available.
The event is sponsored by Mackville Community Development and the Mackville Lions Club.
