North Oldham overcame a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter and held on for a 48-45 overtime win over Anderson County in boys’ high school basketball action Tuesday night.
Trailing 31-21 entering the fourth quarter, the Mustangs turned up the defensive pressure to force several crucial turnovers. A 9-0 spurt gave North its first lead of the game at 36-35 with 2:30 to play.
North Oldham built the lead to three, but Anderson’s Darrin Laswell sent the game into the extra period with a 3-pointer with 14 seconds to play.
North, which improved to 9-8, never trailed in overtime. Anderson fell to 6-8. The Bearcats have lost four of their last five by a combined 12 points.
“In our stage of development, we have not had enough work on playing with the lead,” Anderson coach Glen Drury said.
