To the editor:
In recent weeks I have watched the news and special events going on for the re-election of [President] Obama and I’ve come to the conclusion that yes, he should run and be nominated but for something other then the president of the United States.
I think he would make an excellent candidate for the Screen Actor’s Guild (now known as SAG-AFTRA), and should make a run to become the president of that labor union.
He should also be considered for nomination to receive awards in the following categories: best actor portraying a president (but not sure for which nation), most seen face of a president daily on TV, most popular president among Hollywood elite liberal actors and liberal journalists, and best presidential speaker using a teleprompter. These are only a few areas that would be worthy of my vote for Obama.
Now as far as Obama continuing on as president of the USA for another four years, that is not something for which I can vote for him.
Here are just a few of the reasons I cannot, in good conscience, support him for re-election as the president of this nation. He believes in abortion and basically said that having that available, especially through Planned Parenthood, is a good thing because he knows that if one of his daughters became pregnant there is that option open for her to take care of “her mistake.”
One thing that does amaze me is that he vigorously supports Planned Parenthood, an organization whose founder, Margaret Sanger, seemed to be of the notion that abortions were a good way to reduce the number of certain populations. That even seemed to include the black population and those with special needs. Next, he has been a president who favors higher energy costs, and made the decision for little to zero drilling of oil here in the United States while opting instead to give our money to other countries to drill in places like the Gulf off our shores.
Then there is the fact that Obama is a man who has surrounded himself and the White House with people who make no qualms about being communists or socialists, along with the radicals, and all of them would love nothing better then to dismantle this nation and bring us our knees, so to speak.
They seem to hate this nation and all we stand for and believe that we should be just one nation among many with no distinguishing characteristics.
They strive to keep God at bay with little or no mention; keep people dependent on the government in all aspects of their lives; and give us no voice if we do not agree with them in our personal lives or in business. (An example would be to look up ALEC v. Van Jones).
The list of things could go on and on but I’ll end it by saying that maybe Obama has some good qualities beyond his vanity, and for some he is their candidate. I want “hope and change” but for me, Obama does not fit those needs.
We will all have to examine our own conscience come election time in November and pull the lever for the person that we, as individuals, believe will help strengthen this nation rather then tear it down or be ashamed of it.
May we always believe that we are “One Nation Under God,” and one that strives to fight and help others while keeping our own identity intact.
