Running back Nathan Cox rushed for three touchdowns and a two-point conversion as the Anderson County junior varsity football team cruised to an easy 50 – 6 victory over the Western Hills Wolverines at Hollie Warford Stadium. Cox picked up 83 yards on the ground while teammate Chris Toomey made the most out of his two carries, adding 69 yards, a touchdown and a two-point conversion.

Zachary Carmichael was good on 7-of-12 pass attempts for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Dusty Puckett caught three passes for 31 yards and a score, while Chase Sutherland had a 32-yard touchdown reception.

On the defensive side of the ball, Cox and Toomey each had four tackles, while Sutherland, Robert Baker and Lucas Durr each chipped in three. Brayden Russell had an interception that was returned 31 yards as time ran out on the clock.

Coach Adam Turner was “proud of his team for jumping out early and playing solid, fundamental football for four quarters. It was really a team effort as everyone got in the game and made a contribution to the win.”
