The Lawrenceburg Pierian Woman’s Club’s primary fundraising endeavor is in full swing. Hundreds of tins of bourbon balls ($12 per dozen) and buckeyes (peanut-butter balls, $7 per dozen) are being created for holiday gifting. To order, call Sue Litkenhus at 502-839-6659.
Last year’s candy sales enabled the club to donate more than $5,000 to community projects, including four college scholarships to graduating high school seniors, cash prizes for its student art contest, and donations to the Anderson County Distinguished Young Woman contest, the Anderson County 4H Council, ECC-PTO (playground equipment fund), Hospice of the Bluegrass, Kentucky Educational Television, and the St. Lawrence Catholic Church Youth Group. LPWC also sponsors a Kentucky Humanities Council Chautauqua program.
Webmaster Sabine Howard announced that the club’s website is up and running. The address is: LPWC-LawrenceburgKY.org. and the community is invited to visit the site for more information about the club and its activities. The group is interested in attracting new members, and any women residing in Anderson County are welcome to request information.
The club held it’s final meeting of 2012 Nov. 15. Meetings resume Jan. 17.
