At the Lawrenceburg Pierian Woman’s Club’s regular meeting Feb. 21, plans were underway for the annual luncheon and style show, Hats Off!, to be held Saturday, April 27 at the Family Living Center of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, according to a press release.
Proceeds from the luncheon are used by the club for various scholarships and art awards for local high school students.
Beginning at 11:30 a.m., a silent auction will benefit the Backpack Buddies project. Several local businesses, as well as club members, are being asked to donate auction items.
Martha Caywood of the Derby Shoppe and Raggs in Danville will again present the style show, with club members and friends modeling.
The luncheon menu includes chicken salad with pecans and grapes, strawberry pretzel molded salad, croissants, tea and lemonade. Dessert will include cheesecake and the club’s famous candies: bourbon balls and buckeyes.
Tickets for Hats Off! are $15 each and may be purchased from any club member.
The February meeting also featured the Puncheon Creek band presenting several bluegrass selections. Band members are Tim Fredrick, Steve Ross, Keith Freeman and Brandon Warren.
The speaker for the evening was author Bill Bryant, who described the book, The History of Lawrenceburg. Bill and his wife, club member Barbara, collaborated on the research and writing of the book. The club voted to donate a copy of the book to the Anderson County Library.
The next regular meeting will be March 21 when a salad anddessert buffet will be hosted for the members of the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, an international social, cultural and service organization.
This month’s reading selection, “Bare Bones” by Kathy Reich, will be exchanged for next month’s, “Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” by Stieg Larsson.
