Pottery class to benefit Community Education

A pottery class titled “Come Out and Clay” is scheduled for Saturday, May 5, Anderson Community Education announced.
Class time for children 8 to 12 will be from 10 a.m. to noon. Those 13 and older will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Class size is limited to four students.
Cost is $40 for each class, and are “applied to cover qualified student scholarships, expenses of local community education projects, volunteer programming and instructor compensation,” according to a news release from the organization.
“This is a great opportunity to use the potter’s wheel and gain a basic understanding of the process of wheel-throwing clay,” organizers said in a news release.
“This two-hour session includes demonstration, hands-on wheel throwing and the pottery hand-building experience.”
Fee includes instruction and supplies for firing and glazing four pieces of pottery.
Participants are asked to dress appropriately because “you will get dirty.”
Classes will be conducted at 1221 Johnson Road, Lawrenceburg, with instructor Susan Burge.
