A preacher quoting a Bible verse about repelling evil wasn’t enough to stop the Anderson County Fiscal Court from approving Sunday alcohol sales.
Magistrates voted 5-1 Tuesday morning to allow restaurants to sell alcohol by the drink on Sundays, ending a years-long debate about the topic. They also approved allowing the county’s two bourbon distilleries and Lovers Leap Vineyard and Winery to sell their products on Sundays.
They did so following an animated upbraiding from a Frankfort-area preacher, who said magistrates are charged with keeping people safe.
