Predictions for real estate in '08 mixed

Ask local real estate professionals to forecast the Anderson County market for 2008 and responses range from continued doom and gloom to outright optimism.

All agree, however, that Anderson's real estate market suffered mightily in 2007. The number of home sales dropped 20 percent when compared to 2006. Home prices - considered by most a bellwether sign of the market - were off 6 percent, according to statistics released last week by the Lexington-Bluegrass Association of Realtors, which includes statistics specifically for Anderson County.
