Fourth grader Kaylee Scales-Conklin completes a block printing book in Elaine Clark’s art class at Saffell Street Elementary. Relief printmaking is a process requiring students to carve a block, ink it with a brayer, apply the paper, use a barren to set the image on the paper. Students have learned that the printmaking process enables them to make several copies of the same image. The picture shows Kaylee, using the brayer to ink her block, then she’s using the barren to set the image, finally she pulls the image.
