Although many people consider slavery to be an event of the past, slavery still exist in many countries, as well as the United States. Modern day slavery can effect by debt bondage and forced labor. Many researchers told and showed that 27 million people work as slaves in the world. This number is higher than the number of slaves that were in slavery in the past. There are several examples from text and videos that show the world this horrible problem.
An example is Raman, a slave who was freed after 30 years of slavery. He had a long family debt which had to be paid. At first Ramon’s grandfather first had to pay a debt, and when he died Raman’s father had to pay the same debt. Then when Raman’s father died it was Ramon’s turn to pay the debt and work as a slave. When Raman got married and had a son and a daughter all his life he wanted to send his son to school, but didn’t have the money to.
There are more slaves in the world today (which is illegal) than in past (which was legal). It doesn’t matter how old you are you can still be forced into slavery.
