Anderson County Relay for Life recently announced that the second annual House of Trees will be Friday, Nov. 19 and Saturday, Nov. 20 at the former Countryside Motors showroom located on US 127 Bypass South.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from the event will go to the American Cancer Society to support its many programs benefiting those fighting cancer, according to a news release.
More than 50 local individuals, organizations and businesses are sponsoring this year’s event, donating decorated Christmas trees and wreaths that will be sold at silent auction. This year, in addition to live bidding, phone bids will be accepted once a bidder has registered and paid admission to the event.
All trees and auctioned items will be sold to the highest bidder with bidding supervised by Pam Ware, event co-chair, and Derek Ruble, Anderson County Relay for Life chairman.
The event begins Friday night with a “Preview Party” from 6 to 10 p.m. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served. Entertainment will include performances by Lawrenceburg’s Jessie Crouch and Men of Joy between 6 and 8 followed by the night’s featured performers, G’ Busy and the Blues Review, from 8 to 10.
New this year will be the addition of a “Mistletoe Market” comprised of local vendors who will have items available for sale. These vendors have agreed to donate the proceeds of every sale to the House of Trees, the news release said.
The event continues Saturday with doors opening at 9 a.m. and the close of the auction at 5 p.m.
Saturday will be filled with holiday food and entertainment for the whole family. Homemade cookies, candies and snacks will be served with hot chocolate and cold beverages.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit between noon and 3 p.m. for holiday photos. The SEC Wildcat Princesses will also be available for photos.
New this year will be the addition of a Kid’s Craft Corner where children 10 and under can make holiday crafts to take home.
Entertainment will be provided by local talent including Cara Courrejolles, BCB and Company, By the Way Bluegrass Band, Donna Freeman, Tegan Hanks, Michael Sivils, Anderson County Kid’s Club, Lauren Fowler, the Lawrenceburg Academy of Performing Arts and Brock Terry.
