Lee White, now a county building inspector, stands in front of the 9/11 memorial mural he created and completed his senior year of high school. White said it took him about two months to finish the mural, and finished it in the spring of 2002. He said it makes him feel good that the mural is still there in the Anderson County High School foyer, more than 10 years later. ‘Within the next 10 years my kids will be in high school,’ White, who has an 8-year-old daughter and six-year-old son, said. ‘It will be cool for them to go there and see that I created a memorial for such a travesty… it’s one way to memorialize what happened.’
Blake Roach, a former Anderson County high school senior, worked for more than two years to erect this 9/11 memorial, the design of which first came from a STLP competition entry. The memorial was dedicated over Memorial Day weekend.
