To the editor:
During these turbulent times we are hearing daily of mistreatment of our children and the elderly.
People, wake up! We are all responsible for our most vulnerable, not just social workers, school nurses, teachers, police and other law enforcement.
We, as family and friends, neighbors, co-workers or even fellow shoppers have a responsibility to report and follow up on unusual and questionable situations concerning our children and aging citizens.
They need our protection now. We can make a huge difference in preventing another tragedy like the abuse and death of a little girl in Todd County. She was [allegedly] beaten to death by her step-brother with a tire tool in their driveway after years of sibling abuse.
We must be observant, report and follow up and even report again and again until action is taken.
We must stick our necks out, even if it gets uncomfortable.
We can’t let little Amy Dye die in vain. We are our brothers and sisters keepers.
God bless the USA.
