Saffell Street Elementary students are competing for prizes through the “Glee Give a Note” contest, a joint project of the National Association for Music Education, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and the television show “Glee.”
Fox is donating $1 million to school music programs across the United States.
The $1 million will be awarded through a contest in which school music teachers and their students submit videos demonstrating why their programs need support. Videos, up to two minutes long, were to include a creative message about their program and needs.
Seventy-three schools across the United States will receive grants of $10,000 to $50,000. There will be three grand prizes of $50,000, 10 $25,000 prizes, and 60 $10,000 prizes. The three grand prizes will be selected nationally
The remaining prizes will be awarded on a regional basis – 14 for each of five regions (based on NAfME regional divisions – Eastern, North Central, Southern, Southwestern, and Western/Northwest).
Winners will be announced in December.
