A crowd of nearly 200 teachers and parents made it clear Monday night that turning Saffell Street Elementary School into a fifth- and sixth-grade campus is not a good idea.
Speaking during a forum held at the high school auditorium, teachers, parents and children pleaded with the Anderson County Board of Education to keep the school as is.
"If you make the change I'll probably homeschool my kids," said parent Tanya Smith. "Why not start with the older children, move the sixth (grade) and ups. Younger kids do not transition well."
