Beginning Thursday, Anderson County residents will have two locations at which to fulfill their postal needs.
A new contract postal unit will open at noon on Sept. 4 at Cash A Check in the Markwell Center at 1004 Bypass South. However, this opening is a "soft opening," said Regina Decker, Lawrenceburg postmaster.
A grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house will be the following Thursday, Sept. 11 at noon.
The Markwell Center CPU will be open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9-2 Saturdays.
"(The new CPU) will have longer hours and will reduce lines in our lobby," Decker said, referring to the main post office on Fox Creek Road.
The CPU will offer everything the main post office does except for money orders and passports, she said. This location will also serve as a collection point for prepaid packages.
Decker, Markwell center owner Joan Markwell and other local dignitaries will be on hand at the grand opening Sept. 11.
Decker and her staff at the Lawrenceburg Post Office invite customers to attend the open house and learn more about the services the new location will offer.
