Remember that oldest cliche of football? You have to establish the run before you can pass?
Anderson County took that supposed truism of the high school game and threw it out the window Friday night.
Or more specifically, the Bearcats called upon Jacob Russell to throw it down field.
Russell propelled Anderson past visiting South Oldham 49-7 in the first round of the Class 5A state playoffs as he completed 14 of 23 passes for 277 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Not a bad night for someone who had to alter his plans.
