The Anderson County High School class of 2008 celebrated its graduation on Saturday with a commencement ceremony at the Frankfort Convention Center.
According to the program, 271 students were in the 2008 graduating class.
The convention center was full of family and friends who cheered and clapped when a loved one's name was read. Superintendent Kim Shaw shook the students' hands as they walked across the stage to receive their diplomas.
The senior chorus performed a special music presentation and sang "Omnia Sol." When the song's lyrics are translated, they say, "Love me faithfully and see how I am faithful ..."
Rachel Nethery was valedictorian of the 2008 class. In her speech to the graduating class, Nethery reminisced with the seniors about their shared memories from freshman to senior year. From cafeteria food, the senior trip or the prom, the seniors made moments they will never forget, she said.
"As a class we've survived numerous 'we'll laugh about this later' moments," Nethery said. "Clearly, the number of unforgettable moments is infinite."
